Musical in NYC
The musical Sarah, Plain and Tall was sponsored and produced by TheatreworksUSA as summer theatre for
children of New York City from July 17, 2002 to August 14, 2002. The Sarah, Plain and Tall book is by Julia
Jordan, lyrics by Nell Benjamin, music by Laurence O’Keefe, based on the novel by Patricia MacLachlan.
Directed by Joe Calarco. With Becca Ayers, Kenneth Boys, Herndon Lackey, Kate Wetherhead, Debra Wiseman,
John Lloyd Young. Set by Michael Fagin, costumes by Anne Kennedy, lights by Chris Lee, sound by Eric Shim,
orchestrations by Laurence O’Keefe, music direction by Stephen Bates. Presented by TheatreworksUSA:
artistic director Barbara Pasternack, managing director Ken Arthur by special arrangement with the
Lucille Lortel Theater Foundation. TheatreworksUSA is America’s foremost professional theatre for
young and family audiences. Its mission is to create imaginative and sophisticated shows that are
educational, entertaining and thought-provoking. The show was developed in part from support by AT&T
through its First Stage program.
